Tony on a particularly wet day at Tyddesley Wood in 2019, rallying the troops.

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Tony Parsons, Diane's husband, passed away suddenly on 10th February at their home in Spain.

Tony was, as chauffeur, a regular attendee at our forays often scuttling off into the forest on his own, invariably returning back to base with the most exciting finds of the day. His hauls of St Georges and Parasol mushrooms are legendary.

Our thoughts at this sad time are with Di and his son Anthony and family.

 Worcestershire Fungus Group

The Worcestershire Fungus Group has been in existence for 20 years. It was formed to cater for the increasing number of people sharing a fascination for the extensive range of fungi to be found in the county. Throughout the year, we walk in the woodlands of Worcestershire, and occasionally, we are invited by other county groups to join in their own forays.

The group’s aims are to promote the study, conservation and recording of the variety of species of fungi which grow in Worcestershire. These records are passed to landowners and the local Biological Records Office. Perhaps more importantly, they are also added to National Databases for future research and records.

We welcome anyone interested in learning more about fungi, no previous knowledge is necessary!

Whether your interest is casual, mycological, culinary, conservational or even photographic there is scope for all activities on one of our forays.

The group is currently made up from members with all levels of experience, from beginners to experts……. and all are welcome. Hopefully, you will get some idea of our activities through this site, and would like to join us…..we are actively seeking new members of all ages.

Membership is £7 per person for the year
£11 for a couple
Individual forays £3 per person

Interested? Then just contact us.

The Worcestershire Fungi Group is a member of the Association of British Fungus Groups (ABFG) which provides public liability insurance for our forays, and is also affiliated to the British Mycological Society.
